Lauded for her ability to “exquisitely set the scene” (Orlando Sentinel), Chilean-American mezzo-soprano Raphaella Medina continues to charm audiences with her “vibrant voice” (Villages Daily Sun).

A versatile performer, Medina feels at home across a wide range of genres and repertoire. This season, she is thrilled to debut the role of Stéphano in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette with Winter Opera St. Louis, the role of “The Diva” in ICEBERG New Music’s world premiere of Dinner to Die For, and perform Ravel’s “Chansons madécasses” through NYU’s collaboration with La Maison Française in New York City.  Last season, Medina debuted the title role of Beatrice in Opera Orlando’s production of Berlioz’s Beatrice + Benedict, returned as a soloist for the Villages Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual Opera Gala, and performed as the mezzo soloist in Rossini’s Stabat Mater with Concerts in the Village.

Previous seasons saw Medina make her Winter Opera St. Louis debut as Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, reprise her role as Diana in José “Pepe” Martínez’s mariachi opera Cruzar la Cara de la Luna with Opera Santa Barbara, and appear as Susanna Walcott in Opera in the Pines’ immersive reimagining of Robert Ward’s The Crucible.  Other highlights include role and house debuts with the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera, Opera Saratoga, and Opera Vermont, as well as concert and recital appearances with the Orlando Ballet, Florentine Opera, and the Leipzig Hochschule für Musik und Theater.
